Good morning! Hope your weekend was dope.  I had a good one, went to Funktoberfest in Alexandria, Babygirl celebrated a birthday and, got some work done…yeah, I know.  A few of our favorite #RnB songs passed milestones this weekend.  Janet Jackson’s ‘Velvet Rope’ was released 21 years ago yesterday, big brother Michael dropped ‘Got To Be There’ 47 years ago on the same date and, the family…of course I’m talking The Jackson Five debuted the single ‘I Want You Back’ on the same date way back in 1969! A little more recently, Soul II Soul reached #1 on the #RnB charts with ‘Back To Life.’ Speaking of #1, that position was held on this day in ’67 by Jackie Wilson with ‘(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher….hmmmm….one more,  Oct 6  1990 was the day Maxi Priest hit #1 with ‘Close to You’, there are more if you’re interested, check out my friend Jeff and his ‘Behind The Grooves’ blog here.  Let’s do Monday, pour another cup and turn the radio up…..yup.
