John Legend Wants His New Album To Be A Timeless Classic For Families

John Legend’s brand-new children’s album, “My Favorite Dream,” features vocals from his wife, Chrissy Teigen, and their children. The album includes original tracks and covers, all tested on his family as his “first focus group.” Legend collaborated with indie-folk musician Sufjan Stevens on the project, departing from his usual R&B sound. As he celebrates the 20th anniversary of his debut album, Legend reflects on his career and plans to continue making timeless music for his fans. “I wrote songs based on a lot of the messages that we give our kids anyway,” Legend said. “Even though it’s intended for children and families, I wanted it to be like something parents would love listening to, too, so I set that standard for myself musically. I didn’t lower the bar at all. I just said, ‘I’m going to make great music.’”
