Midsummer night-ish

What’s good?  I had a lot to do this week but, I’m never too busy to find  new (or new to me  ) RnB. I’ve also been getting used to these  Galaxy Buds. Yeah,  those buds.  The ones I said I’d never own.   I like them,  I was using them when I made this playlist . Warm summer nights on the porch  need a playlist.  Summer night drives need a playlist.  This is one that I found suitable for both. Be advised that these are not the clean radio edits.

Yours – Dixson  f  India Shawn. A departure from the falsetto driven KREAM for Dixson, it’s still present just not front and center. Slow Mid tempo confessionial arranged well. India Shawns addition is perfect here.

Champagne Jack – Gene Noble. Reminiscent of a Ginuwine cut. A little heavy on the vocal production but, it still knocks. Good follow up to Matching Tattoos.

You’re The One – Leela James.  Vocally, Patrice Rushen vibes all through this one.  That said, it’s still unmistakably Leela. I like this from the first note. The track has an 80s feel, a lot to like here.

Sad For You – NJomza. Don’t ask me how to pronounce that. I’m feeling this cut though. A five minute slow vibe, you might hit repeat a couple of times, I did.

Lie To Me remix – Kem f Wiz Khalifa. Best use of Brenda Russell’s A Little Bit of Love sample since Big Pun. The original vocal track is laid perfectly over new production. Wiz drops a decent verse.

Whenever You’re Ready – Mahalia. More familiar sounds. Montell Jordan’s Get it on Tonight is revisited with the sample but, Mahalia makes it her own effectively. Basically she’s setting her lover free, convinced that he’ll be back whenever he’s ready.

I Will Never Know – Tall Black Guy f Moonchild.  A bit jazzy, a bit hip hop, absolutely RnB. Whispery, dreamy vocals consort with a bassy track to convey a vibe.

All Pride Aside – Shelley FKA DRAM f Summer Walker.  Sounds like 2 separate songs. Summers verse is nice, somewhat abbreviated though.

Zaddy – Raheem DeVaughn & Apollo Brown. So, this whole project knocks.  This braggadocio is rapper esq, Rah makes it smooth.

Don’t Worry – Leon Bridges f Inc.  Close to 7 minutes of Bridges nostalgic sound. Seventies vibe without sounding dated.
