What’s Poppin’ in Port City

 

 

 

This weekend, Shreveport has the pleasure of hosting the Southwestern Regional Convention of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc at the Shreveport Convention Center.  The convention consists of chapters from Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas and will include a weekend of entertaining events and black kings bonding. The first of several events during the convention was Thursday morning’s Saving Our Sons Youth Summit. The summit brought together strong, educated black men and impressionable young black kings who strive to succeed. It was followed by an informative panel discussion Thursday night. The Miss Black and Gold Scholarship Competition will take place Friday night followed by the Stroll Off Competition and after party. Saturday night the festivities continue with the Old School Party.

The Alpha Media Spring Job Fair is an event to get eager employees and hiring employers in the same space to mingle and create opportunities. Several different companies will be set up at booths ready to greet and hire qualified applicants. Make sure to come out dressed to impress with your resume in hand. There’s money to be made so go get it!

The Shreveport Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. will be having their 2nd Annual Stomping on the Red Step Show. Come out and bring the family to see some of the areas dopest steppers and dance teams do their thing!
